2005 World Series of Poker Main Event Day 1C
Event #42 No Limit Texas Hold'em World Championship July 8 Day 1C
Today is the 3rd round of eliminations in which 1,877 players will participate. We still do not have the prize pool and
payouts yet. We do know that even though 5,619 players entered the Main Event, Harrah's was anticipating a sell out of 6600. So
they may have allowed late entries over Days 1A, 1B and 1C which would change the player numbers and the prize pool
amounts. We will post this information as soon as it comes available. Some of the names present are T.J. Cloutier,
Howard Lederer, Doyle Brunson, Matt Hilger, Mark Seif, Todd Witteles, Phil Ivey, John Juanda, Chau Giang, Hoyt Corkins
and Chad Brown. PokerStars.com who produced
the 2003 and 2004 WSOP champions, is pushing for the "3-peat". So far they have 94 players from Day 1A and 72 from Day 1B that will
be going to Day 2 with 2004 WSOP champ Greg Raymer being among them.
UPDATE 12:40 p.m
It is no secret about how Mike Matusow's tantrums, bad language and manners earn him lots of friends. A dealer
complained to the floorman that Mike threw his cards at the dealer. After a conversation, the floorman let him off with
a warning. A few seconds later he loses his temper, drops the "f-bomb" and the tournament director give him a 10 penalty.
He says it again and again earning a 40 minute penalty assessment from the tournament director. Mike walks and the crowd gives plenty
of applause for his leaving the area.
